5 Stunning Tricks To Speed Up InDesign..!

Is your InDesign document don’t run as smooth or as quick as we’d like? Wants to know what making it slow and how can you fix it. If yes, then this tutorial will surely going to help you a lot in this so just read this post completely as here you will get the perfect fixes to resolve this.

Set InDesign’s Display Performance to Typical

Viewing images of higher resolution forces InDesign to constantly re-draw elements as you move around the document.  So setting the default to typical go to the:

InDesign/Edit > Preferences > Display Performance renders the image at a screen friendly resolution. This has been InDesign default settings for viewing images onscreen for ages. However with the latest release, the default seems to be high quality. Even with the default set to high, you can right click or make a control-click on a document page to set the display performance for the current document, or right/control click on the image to change the setting for just that image.

Turn off Live Drawing

You must also turn off the Live Screen Drawing or you can set it to delay. In the interface pane of your preferences either turn off or delay the Live Screen Drawing to speed up your InDesign workplace. Delay option works like when you click on the item such as an image then wait a split second to move or transform it; you will get a live preview of the transformation when you perform this. If the option is set to immediate, InDesign has to display each and every step of the process for every transformation.

Minimize Live Preflight

Live preflight works in the background of InDesign to make sure that your document falls within the parameters that you have set for the specific output. You can put a limit to which page it will check by opening the Preflight panel. To make this possible click the Preflight menu to the right of the red or green dot at the bottom of the document frame or choose Window > Output > Preflight.

From the bottom panel, select the radio button to the right of all and choose a page. Now this preflighting will work only for the particular page. It’s better if you turn off altogether by deselecting the On checkbox until your completely ready to preflight..

Turn Off Save Preview Images

Indesign have features like previewing option which generally appears when saving your documents, which happens to be the default behavior. This is another item that time to time updates your work. To do changes to this option, head the Preferences and go to the File Handling pane.  You can deselect “always save preview images” to turn off the option completely. You can also limit the preview pages to just the first one or two pages in the document or reduces the dimension of the preview itself.

All these tricks discussed above will surely help you in improving the performance of your InDesign workplace. For further reading to know more about such speed up InDesign tricks follow this helpful post: 6 Tips to Speed Up InDesign
